Meet Jill
Jill Sanders has an affinity to our peninsula as a true local. She was raised by her grandparents, Dick and Patty Meine, in Palos Verdes Estates and considered the Palos Verdes Golf Club her front yard. Her grandfather was a member for over 40 years and bi weekly shared the excitement and frustrations of the game of golf. Jill wanted to share her photography as a tribute to her grandparents..
Jill attended Chadwick school and followed with a BFA in Photography from Parson’s School of Design in NYC. Her love of photography has been a part of her being since she was a young child. It was never a question of whether or not she was an artist.
At the age of 28, Jill was diagnosed with a brain tumor. One of her grandfather’s friends from the club referred her to the neurosurgeon who saved her life. She learned the lesson of networking and relying on dear members who all help each other out with their knowledge and expertise. She is forever grateful.
Jill defines her work as fine art photography. She uses the meditative qualities of focus to find stillness in this world. Many people comment on how her images bring them peace. Her landscape images have earned her a plethora of awards and achievements. The Jill Sanders Gallery was a prominent structure in the Rivera Village for ten years displaying her images in large scale format. She was voted best Art gallery of the South bay for four consecutive years. Her collections are hanging worldwide as well as in many commercial and retail installations.
Jill and her husband Graham travel to many locations scoping out weather patterns. It is important to know that nature’s cloud palette is present in order to compliment the landscapes and create drama.
Timeless photographs are made to honor our earth and remind us all how incredible our planet is. The nuances of light are what highlight its beauty.
The images presented here were created solely for our club. Jill spent the past year on and off the course capturing prime light and perfect conditions. Her goal was to share the inherent beauty that we are all grateful for every time we step onto the green.
These images are an act of love and dedication to her grandparents. She hopes that members will treasure this book and pass down to their children the appreciation of nature that PVGC so greatly provides. Please click link below to view Jill’s landscape photography website.
